The new year is just around the corner, and makeup junkies worldwide wonder about the hottest new makeup trends coming up next. Harper’s Bazaar got straight to the point: “The reign of no-makeup makeup is officially over!”
So here are the 8 Hottest New Makeup Trends:
1. Color Lashes.
Toss out your non-black mascaras in favor of colors and the bolder the better. Cobalt blue, bird yellow, or way-out red, then mix it up with a complementary slash of the same color of eyeliner.
2. Spider Lashes.
Speaking of lashes, this trend goes back to the late 1960s. Curl lashes first, then take the mascara and paint black mascara down on each individual lash.
3. Glitter Tears.
Forget about concealer for dark circles. Fill in those sad eyes with glitter tears. Runway models have been sporting the statement making sparkles all over the globe.
4. Eye Vinyl.
Ultra glossy eyeshadow is so in. You can buy it ready made or create your own by dabbing a wee bit of Vaseline over your eye shadow for effect.
5. Negative Space.
We’re not sure where the trend came from and it takes some getting used to. The look is eyeliner that is only in the middle of your lids and on the lower eyeline. Here’s how to do it. Darken lids and eye lines with liquid and pencil eyeliner, kohl color. Then take a slightly moistened Q-tip and wipe the liner a bit from the inner corners and do the same from the outer corners. Looks weird, but it’s the hottest look for 2016.
6. High Brow.
Higher eyebrows are trending. Makeup artists are achieving the feat by drawing brows at the top of real brows and using heavy concealer and white powder to make the real brows disappear.
7. Really Red Lipstick.
We’re talking deep red, Hawaiian Punch red, the red like Marilyn Monroe wore. Red lipstick is back with a vengeance. There’s no saving it for nighttime anymore, either. Wear red to the office. Wear red to the gym. Thank Taylor Swift for the comeback.
8. Pronounced Blush.
Makeup artists are going heavy on the cheek contouring, applying two or three layers of highlight on cheekbones. Some suggest using several different colors to get the effect.
