Kristals Beauty Tips: How to Keep Psorasis Under Control
Eating fiber-rich foods
Eating fiber-rich foods such as legumes, fruits and vegetables can help. Packed with fiber, the fiber helps push psoriasis-triggering chemicals through the intestines and out. Licorice root also has a number of anti-inflammatory compounds, but that doesn’t mean eat a boatload of Twizzlers. Health food stores have licorice tincture or licorice extract. Use a cotton ball and apply directly to the affected area.
Don’t smoke or quit smoking cigarettes. A scientific study found that psoriasis was more prevalent in people who smoked cigarettes. Nicotine could be the culprit as it alters the immune system and skin cell growth.
Use moisturizers. Psoriasis symptoms are worse when skin is dry. Olive oil is great, just like coconut oil (always choose organic). It’s important for those with psoriasis to keep their skin moist.
At Kristals Cosmetics our best-loved body butter is the ROCK CRYSTAL – Supreme Body Butter – Love Spells with African shea butter, beeswax, and glycerin to soothe, soften, and heal.
Get some sun, but not too much. Ultraviolet rays in sunlight can slow the growth of skin cells, which is good for the overgrowth of skin cells that causes psoriasis, but don’t stay in the sun too long (20 minutes at most). and always remember sunscreen – sunburn can trigger psoriasis.
Take fewer baths or showers, which can strip your skin of natural oils. Hot water also dries skin, so make sure the water is lukewarm. Take a lukewarm bath and add finely ground oatmeal to the water after you’ve soaked for a minute or two.
Take a fish oil supplement. Omega-3 fatty acids, promote the healthy growth of skin, hair and nails. The dosage should be one to two grams a day.
