Luckily, creating a healthy face-washing routine is not difficult to do. We spoke with the skincare and beauty researchers at Kristals Cosmetics to determine their top tips for washing your face properly.
Kristals Skin Care Tips: How to Wash Your Face the Right Way
#1 Match the Cleanser to Your Skin
Some cleansers can be a bit harsh on the skin, especially if they contain ingredients like sodium laurel sulfate. These can be especially troublesome for those with dry skin.
On the flip side, a person with oily skin will need a stronger cleaner, but going too strong can cause similar problems and lead to breakouts due to dryness. It might take some trial and error to find the best cleanser for you.

#2 Get the Water Right
Some feel like hot water is the best choice for really providing that deep down facial cleansing. However, piping hot water strips the skin of oil and leads to dryness. Lukewarm water is generally the best choice for a healthy face-washing session.
#3 Be Thorough in Rinsing
Even if it looks like it’s gone, chances are there’s still a bit of soap residue left on your face after washing. A few splashes of water are generally not going to rinse it off completely. Instead, rinse your face multiple times, and then rinse again a couple times after you feel like it’s clean.
#4 Take Your Time
Ultimately, it all comes down to taking your time and doing a thorough job not only applying cleanser to each and every pore of the face, but then taking the time to wash properly afterward. It’s easy to get in a rush in the morning and evening, but taking the right amount of time is the best way to ensure good results.
